Background
Users can look at state level data related to a variety of public health topics including but not limited to obesity, cancer, AIDS, tobacco, preterm birth, sexually transmitted infections, insurance coverage, key public health indicators, public health preparedness, and public health funding indicators. The State Health Facts are maintained by the Trust for America’s Health. The Trust for America’s Health is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to protecting the health of every community and working to make disease prevention a national priority. By focusing on prevention, protection, and communities, Trust for America’s Health is leading the fight to make disease prevention a national priority. Trust for America’s health provides a very wide variety of public health data focusing on three main areas of Key Health Indicators, Public Health Preparedness, and Public Health Funding. When applicable state ranks as well as well as percentages or raw numbers are given.
Data Notes
Users can search data by specific state or topic. Users can then narrow their search to one of three areas of data: Key Health Indicators, Public Health Preparedness, and Public Health Funding. Users are then able to view the state’s status on a variety of public health indicators. Users can view interactive national maps and graphs for the specific indicator by clicking on the indicator.
Key Health Indicator data is available from 2009-2012. Public Health preparedness data is available from 2009 -2012. Public Health Funding Indicators data is available from 2010-2012. The site does not indicate when new data will be added. Data sources are clearly credited by clicking on the “sources” link above each data category.
