The National Center for Education Statistics has a wide range of data related to education, schools, and school testing. The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education in the U.S. and other nations. NCES is located within the U.S. Department of Education and the Institute of Education Sciences. The NCES collects, collates, analyzes, and reports complete statistics on the condition of American education; conducts and publishes reports; and reviews and reports on education activities internationally. Users are able to build custom tables and datasets using a variety of data tools including Common Core of Data(CCD) build a table, Data Analysis System, Education Data Analysis Tool, Elementary/Secondary Information System, International Data explorer, National Assessment of Educational Progress Data Explorer, PowerStats, and Quickstats. Users are also able to search pre-created tables and figures.
NCES has a huge variety of data. Users are able to search specific databases or search tables/figures or “Fast Facts.” Users can search tables and figures by year, phrase, or topic area. “Fast Facts” are available for Assessments, Early Childhood, Elementary/Secondary, International, Libraries, and Post Secondary. Users are also able to create their own custom databases.
Data years are available for vary by type of data. Users are able to search tables using data from 1991-2009. Other search options may have varying years available.
